About the role:

  • You’ll communicate with clients to gain an in-depth understanding of their business and proposal, then translate this into compelling narrative
  • You’ll engage with a wide array of organisations (from charities and consultancy firms, to Tier One construction companies) and sectors (e.g. healthcare and education to energy and technology). You can see more about the sectors we support here.
  • You’ll guide clients as they bid for strategically important projects by providing sound advice and drafting winning responses
  • You’ll play a part in securing nationally-important contracts and shaping public sector service provision

About you:

  • You’ll be diligent and conscientious, with a commitment to delivering your best efforts for our clients and their projects
  • You’ll be an excellent communicator who can work with a wide range of people, able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • You’ll be adaptable, resilient, and keen to develop your writing skills

Apply if you’re great at:

  • Writing (e.g. reports, books, articles, essays, etc)
  • Assimilating and interpreting information quickly, and conveying it clearly and succinctly
  • Interpersonal communication and building positive relationships with a range of people
  • Time management (i.e. sticking to deadlines and planning out your projects)

You’ll enjoy:

  • Using your skills. Great candidates for this role often have a background in English Literature, Law, History, and other essay-based subjects.
  • Industry-leading training from a Senior Bid Writer and continuous support.
  • Regular informal socials, and twice-yearly company-wide events
  • Being part of an excellent team with a fantastic reputation in the industry
  • A new starter salary ranging from £30 – £33k depending on skills and experience, a performance-based, end-of-year bonus, and from your second full year, a profit share scheme
  • Flexible working, with core office hours between 10am-4pm
  • A welcoming, inspiring work environment in our custom-designed office. Many of our staff eat lunch together around the kitchen table, and there are occasional FIFA tournaments too!

FAQs

Do I need bid writing experience to apply?

No, you don’t! In fact, we prefer a blank slate and an open mind in our candidates. We have an industry-leading, structured training programme, which is how our writers develop to such a high quality so quickly. We’re looking for a set of skills and qualities in our candidates, which will suggest they’ll be great bid writers. They include an ability to write well, a great way with people, and a determined curiosity to learn new things.

Where can I find out more about bid writing?

Bid writing isn’t a career path you hear talked about very often, so we understand if you’re new to this. We’ve compiled a range of great resources which you can read on our blog, plus our LinkedIn is full of information. There are lots of professional development resources aimed at procurement professionals (the people we are writing for). Exploring some of these will give you a great grounding in our industry.

What does a career path at Kittle Group look like?

Kittle Group is particularly exciting because we are a fast-growing company. This means there are lots of opportunities for ambitious writers keen to develop, as well as the chance to grow other skills. The sample career profiles on this page demonstrate the kinds of development opportunities our writers enjoy, whilst this blog post takes a look at the wider picture of career development at Kittle Group vs other bid teams.

How can I prepare for the writing assessment?

It’s important not to rehearse the assessment. We don’t expect perfection: we’re looking for your instincts and writing abilities. You will be given a full set of instructions by our hiring team when they arrange it with you, and you are welcome to email them with questions before you begin. Our best advice is to get your environment right: make sure you’ve got a good wifi connection and a quiet place to focus for the full two hours.
