Construction Bid Writing

civil engineering

Bidding in the construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure environment is competitive. It is a mature and well-populated market, where tenders are highly contested between competing interests with well-established solutions. As such, expert bid writing support can make your organisation stand out from the crowd.

Kittle Group has a wealth of experience in writing construction tenders to support a range of businesses across the UK and internationally. We offer a full consultation and bid writing service to help your business secure those all-important contracts.

Our bid writing team will support you in applying for appropriate tenders. They have a keen eye for the key bidding challenges found in this sector, including:

  • Standing out against large, experienced competitors with developed approaches
  • Meeting the highly technical requirements and solutions required within the tender submission, and presenting them in a logical, clear, and engaging way
  • Internally managing dense pipelines that see bid teams and subject matter experts juggling their efforts between multiple tendering projects simultaneously
  • Providing evidence from previous projects that align with the particular requirements presented by the tender
  • Effectively demonstrating sufficient resources and project management ability to assure the buyer that you can deliver on your tender promises.

When we work with you on your construction tenders, we help to alleviate much of the stress associated with the above factors.

Construction Case Studies

Supporting a leading Tier-1 construction company’s bid to construct a hospital

Our client, a leading multi-national construction company, engaged Kittle Group to support their bid to construct the Monklands Replacement Project (MRP). NHS Lanarkshire’s exciting vision was to rebuild the ageing University Hospital Monklands on a new site at Wester Moffat, east of Airdrie. This new, state-of-the-art hospital would support the future clinical model and NHS Lanarkshire’s healthcare strategy to divert care from inpatient treatment.

Our team supported the client by working closely with subject matter experts to accurately capture their solutions and articulate them in responses, on highly technical topics such as site setup and access, common data environments, and quality assurance processes.

Through our client’s review process, the team implemented feedback from senior proposal managers and subject matter experts to draw out their solution’s key benefits and added value. Our writers also got involved in copyediting and proofreading bid responses, attachments, and CVs.

Our client successfully won the £750m contract to construct the hospital.

Small Secure Houseblock Programme for the Ministry of Justice

One of our repeat clients, a leading, multi-national Tier 1 engineering and construction contractor, approached Kittle to support their ITT into the Ministry of Justice. The bid was to deliver additional houseblocks at existing operational prisons and consisted of three different lots.

To support this project, we provided a team of three, with one Senior Bid Writer and two Bid Writers. Together, they progressed 19 responses right through from the interviewing and answer planning stages, to drafting and final client reviews. This required close collaboration with the client’s bid team and their subject matter experts, some of which were struggling to articulate their technical expertise. Our writers therefore held knowledge-sharing interviews with them to get the perfect level of detail and write the content up in plain English.

Our extensive construction experience and industry-leading writing meant that our client was successful in their £92m bid into the Ministry of Justice, winning all three lots.

Defence Estates Optimisation Programme

Our client, a Tier 1 Construction Company, was bidding to be appointed as one of seven Strategic Alliance Partners to deliver the £5.1bn Defence Estates Optimisation Programme. The framework was to construct and refurbish single living and service family accommodation, as well as provide a range of operational, educational and technical facilities across the Ministry of Defence (MoD) estate.

We provided two writers to support our client, with one writer leading the bid and maintaining client communications, and the second writer assisting at the drafting and quality assurance stages. Our writers collaborated with the client’s technical team, reviewed responses with senior individuals to ensure their innovative solutions were coherently conveyed, and remained responsive to the client’s security and specialist needs.

Our client was successful and won a place on the framework, valued at £5.1bn
